Excessive Brake Pedal Effort to Fully Apply Brakes







POSSIBLE SOURCE(S):
- Overloaded vehicle.

ACTION(S) TO TAKE:
- Lighten load and advise owner of correct load limits of vehicle.

POSSIBLE SOURCE(S):
- Insufficient vacuum to power brake booster.

ACTION(S) TO TAKE:
- Replace damaged or leaking vacuum booster hoses (2A047).

POSSIBLE SOURCE(S):
- Restricted air filter on brake pedal.

ACTION(S) TO TAKE:
- Clean or replace filter.

POSSIBLE SOURCE(S):
- Booster and brake pedal linkage binding caused by worn bushings or corrosion.

ACTION(S) TO TAKE:
- Replace worn bushings or clean and lubricate linkage.

POSSIBLE SOURCE(S):
- Worn or damaged power brake booster.

ACTION(S) TO TAKE:
- Replace power brake booster.

POSSIBLE SOURCE(S):
- Brake lining worn, glazed, contaminated or improper type.

ACTION(S) TO TAKE:
- Replace brake lining in axle sets.

POSSIBLE SOURCE(S):
- Rear brake shoe and lining improperly installed.

ACTION(S) TO TAKE:
- Reposition brake shoes properly and eliminate any binding.

POSSIBLE SOURCE(S):
- Seized wheel cylinder pistons in rear wheel cylinders or front disc brake calipers.
- Restricted brake lines or hoses.

ACTION(S) TO TAKE:
- Repair or replace as required.
