SEAT - SEAT BACK RECLINER INOPERATIVE -
MEMORY LATCH DOES NOT ENGAGE

LIGHT TRUCK:
1997-98 F-150, F-250 LD
1999 F-250 HD, SUPER DUTY F SERIES

ISSUE

The seat back may not latch/lock in the desired position and remain folded forward over the seat cushion on some vehicles. This may be caused by improper sequence of dump and recliner lever operation causing the recliner memory plate-to-spring back to reset position.

ACTION

With seat in most forward position, push seat back rearward until locking of seat back occurs. This should ensure the seat back is realigned to "pick-up" memory plate in reset position. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Move seat to full forward position.

2. Push integrated headrest seat back fully rearward, rotating at recliner (in case of regular cab, you may have to press seat back lightly against backlight) until the seat back finds the new reset locking position (approximately 45 degrees from vertical).

3. Adjust seat to the desired position.
