Seat - Front, Manual Bucket
Disassembly
WARNING: Always wear safety glasses when repairing an air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) vehicle and when handling an air bag module. This will reduce the risk of injury in the event of an accidental deployment.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not use any memory saver devices.
WARNING: The safety belt pretensioner is a pyrotechnic device. Always wear safety glasses when repairing an air bag equipped vehicle and when handling a safety belt buckle pretensioner or safety belt retractor pretensioner. Never probe a pretensioner electrical connector. Doing so could result in pretensioner or air bag deployment and could result in personal injury.
NOTE: If a seat equipped with a seat mounted side air bag and/or a safety belt pretensioner (if equipped) system is being serviced, the supplemental restraint system (SRS) must be depowered. Air Bag Systems
NOTE: The air bag warning lamp illuminates when the RCM fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.
NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
All seats
1. Depower the SRS. For additional information, Service and Repair
2. Remove the affected seat. For additional information, Procedures
3. NOTE: Note: If removing the seat back pad adjuster, removal of the seat cushion is not necessary. For driver seat, proceed to Step 20. For passenger seat, proceed to Step 19.
Remove the armrest.
1. Pull back the Velcro� fastened armrest cover to expose the bolt.
2. Remove the bolt and crown washer.
3. Remove the armrest.

4. NOTE: Passenger seat shown, driver seat similar.
Pull the front seat back pad adjustment knob from the right side of the seat.
All seats
5. Remove the bolt from behind the seat back latch handle.
6. Remove the front seat back latch lower cover bolt underneath the seat.
7. Disengage the front seat back latch lower cover clip from the seat track.
8. Remove the front seat back latch lower cover from the seat.
9. Remove the front seat back pivot side inner cover screws from underneath the seat.
10. Rotate the front seat back pivot side inner cover upward to disengage the front and upper hooks.
- Pull the inner cover inboard to clear the belt and buckle assembly pretensioner (if equipped).
11. Remove the front seat back pivot side inner cover from the seat assembly.
1 Rotate the front seat back pivot side inner cover upward to release the rear pin-type retainer mount from the key slot.
2 Hold the front seat back pivot side inner cover in one hand and release the retaining clips holding the belt and buckle assembly pretensioner boot (if equipped) to the front seat back pivot side inner cover.
3 Remove the front seat back pivot side inner cover.
12. Remove the rear pin-type retainer from the upper seat track mounting flange.

13. Remove the belt and buckle assembly pretensioner.
Seats with manual lumbar
14. NOTE: Make sure the front seat back pad adjuster is in the fully retracted position.
Remove the front seat back pad adjuster.
1 Remove the screws from the seat.
2 Disconnect the front seat back pad adjustment cable from the front seat back pad adjuster and remove the front seat back pad adjuster.

15. Remove the bolts from the front seat back latch.
16. Remove the front seat back.
1 Remove the bolt.
2 Pull the front seat back pad adjustment cable through the bottom of the seat back.
3 Lift the front seat back from the seat cushion.
Passenger seat
17. Remove the seat back assist handle.
1 Remove the screw covers.
2 Remove the screws.
3 Remove the seat back assist handle.
All seats
18. Remove the front seat back cover.
1 Unfasten the J-clip at the bottom of the front seat back.
2 Lift the front seat back cover up over the seat back, disengaging the Velcro (R) fasteners (not shown), and remove the front seat back cover.
19. Remove the front seat back pad from the front seat back frame.
Seats with manual lumbar
20. Cut the wire ties fastening the front seat back pad adjuster cable to the front seat back frame.
21. NOTE: Removal of the seat back pad adjuster is easier when the seat back pad adjuster is fully extended.
Rotate the plastic washers 60 degrees until the slit is facing the edge of the front seat back pad adjuster grid.
- Rotate both the top and bottom washers.
22. NOTE: If only removing the seat back pad adjuster, proceed with Step 24, then proceed to seat assembly.
Remove the front seat back adjuster grid from the front seat back frame.

23. Remove the front seat back latch from the front seat back frame.
1 Remove the bolts from the front seat back latch.
2 Remove the front seat back latch.
24. NOTE: Use the fastener access holes to reach the support nuts.
Remove the four nuts retaining the seat support to the seat track.
Seats with safety belt buckle pretensioner
25. NOTE: Note the connector location when removing the connector from the seat support.
Gently pull the seat belt connector from the seat support.
All seats
26. Remove the seat support from the seat tracks.
27. NOTE: For the passenger seat, place the seat track to the mid-position to remove the seat track bolts.
Remove the bolts retaining the seat tracks to the seat cushion.
28. Remove the seat tracks from the seat cushion.
Seats with safety belt buckle pretensioner
29. NOTE:
- Examine the plastic fasteners on the safety belt wiring assembly and install new fasteners if worn.
- Note the locations of the plastic fasteners when removing the wiring assembly.
Remove the safety belt wiring assembly from the seat cushion.
All seats
30. Remove the front seat cushion cover.
1 Unfasten the J-clips on all four sides of the front seat cushion cover.
2 Remove the seat cushion from the front seat cushion frame.
3 Remove the front seat cushion cover from the seat cushion, disengaging the Velcro (R) fastener (not shown).
ASSEMBLY
All seats
NOTE: If only installing the seat backpad adjuster, proceed to Step 9.
1. Install the front seat cushion cover.
1 Install the front seat cushion cover to the seat cushion, engaging the Velcro (R) fastener (not shown).
2 Install the seat cushion to the front seat cushion frame.
3 Fasten the J-clips on all four sides of the front seat cushion cover.
Seats equipped with a safety belt buckle pretensioner
2. NOTE: Examine the plastic fasteners on the safety belt wiring assembly and install new fasteners if worn.
Install the safety belt wiring assembly to the seat cushion.
All seats
3. Install the seat tracks to the seat cushion.
4. NOTE: For the passenger seat, place the seat track to the mid-position to install the seat track bolts.
Install the bolts retaining the seat tracks to the seat cushion.
5. Install the seat support to the seat tracks.
Seats equipped with a safety belt buckle pretensioner
6. NOTE: Examine the plastic fasteners on the seat belt connector and install new fasteners if worn.
Install the seat belt connector to the seat support.
All seats
7. Install the four nuts retaining the seat support to the seat track.
8. Install the front seat back latch to the front seat back frame.
Seats with manual lumbar
9. NOTE: Installation of the seat back pad adjuster is easier when the seat back pad adjuster is fully extended.
Install the front seat back adjuster grid to the front seat back frame.
10. Rotate the plastic washers 60 degrees so that the slit is facing away from the edge of the front seat back pad adjuster grid. Rotate both the top and bottom washers.
11. Install wire ties fastening the front seat back pad adjuster cable to the front seat back frame.
All seats
12. Install the seat back foam pad to the frame.
13. Install the front seat back cover.
1 Pull the front seat back cover over the seat back, engaging the Velcro (R) fasteners (not shown), and install the front seat back cover.
2 Fasten the J-clip at the bottom of the front seat back.
Passenger seat
14. Install the seat back assist handle.
1 Position the seat back assist handle.
2 Install the screws.
3 Install the screw covers.
All seats
15. Align the front seat back to the seat cushion and install the bolt.
16. Install the bolts to the front seat back latch.
Seats with manual lumbar
17. NOTE: Make sure the front seat back pad adjuster is in the fully retracted position.
Install the front seat back pad adjuster.
1 Install the front seat back pad adjuster and connect the front seat back pad adjustment cable to the front seat back pad adjuster.
2 Install the screws to the seat.

18. Install the belt and buckle assembly pretensioner.
All seats
19. Install the rear pin-type retainer to the upper seat track mounting flange.
20. Install the front seat back pivot side inner cover to the seat assembly.
1 Install the front seat back pivot side inner cover.
2 Hold the front seat back pivot side inner cover in one hand and secure with the retaining clips to hold the belt and buckle assembly pretensioner boot (if equipped) to the front seat back pivot side inner cover.
3 Rotate the front seat back pivot side inner cover downward to secure the rear pin-type retainer mount to the key slot.
21. Rotate the front seat back pivot side inner cover downward to engage the front and upper hooks.
- Pull the inner cover inboard to clear the belt and buckle assembly pretensioner (if equipped).
22. Install the front seat back pivot side inner cover screws to the front of the seat.
23. Install the front seat back latch lower cover to the seat.
24. Engage the front seat back latch lower cover clip to the seat track.
25. Install the front seat back latch lower cover bolt underneath the seat.
26. Install the bolt behind the seat back latch handle.
Seats with manual lumbar
27. Push the front seat back pad adjustment knob toward the right side of the seat.
All seats
28. NOTE: If the same armrest is being installed, the armrest plate and bolt can be reused, but install a new crown washer when installing the armrest.
Install the armrest, new crown washer, and bolt. Position the armrest cover.
29. Install the seat. Refer to Driver Seat or Passenger Seat in this section.
30. Repower the SRS. For additional information, Service and Repair

31. Check the restraint system for correct operation.
