Disc Brake System: Service and Repair

Special Tool(s):

1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.

3. Tighten the spindle nut to eliminate all end play from the front wheel bearing. Be sure the brake disc can turn.

4. Attach Dial Indicator with Bracketry to the vehicle suspension so the stylus of the indicator touches the surface of the brake disc approximately 25.4 mm (1.01 inches) from outer edge of the brake disc.

5. Adjust the Dial Indicator with Bracketry to mid travel. Zero the scale on the dial indicator. Slowly turn the brake disc one complete turn and note the high and low readings on the dial.

6. CAUTION: Be sure to adjust the spindle nut after the runout check.

Refinish or install a new brake disc.
