Test G: LFC 19/DTC B1231 - Crash Event Detected

G1:

Normal Operation

WARNING: THE ECS AND PRIMARY CRASH SENSOR ORIENTATION IS CRITICAL FOR PROPER SYSTEM OPERATION. IF A VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH A SUPPLEMENTAL AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WHERE THE RADIATOR GRILLE, FRAME RAILS OR RIGHT COWL PANEL HAVE BEEN DAMAGED, INSPECT THE MOUNTING AND BRACKET FOR DEFORMATION. IF DAMAGED, REPLACE THE SENSOR OR ECS. IN ADDITION, MAKE SURE THE AREA OF THE SENSOR MOUNTING IS RESTORED TO ITS ORIGINAL CONDITION.

When the air bag modules and belt and buckle assembly pretensioners are deployed during a crash, the air bag Electronic Crash Sensor (ECS) will store Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1231 in memory and flash Lamp Fault Code (LFC) 19 (or higher priority code if one exists) on the air bag indicator. This DTC indicates that a crash has been recorded by the ECS. The ECS must be replaced.

Possible Causes
A crash event which deployed the air bag modules and belt and buckle assembly pretensioners.
