Horn Relay

HORN RELAY

NOTE: Use three No.10 (or larger gauge) jumper wires and 73 Digital Multimeter to test the horn relay.

1. Remove the relay from the power distribution box.

2. Using a multimeter, measure the resistance between Terminal 85 and all other terminals. If the resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace the relay. If the resistance is greater than 5 ohms, continue the test.
3. Use two jumper wires to connect Terminals 86 and 30 directly to the positive battery terminal.
4. Set the 73 digital multimeter in the volts position and check for voltage at Terminal 87A. If battery voltage is not indicated, replace the relay.
5. If battery voltage is indicated, connect the third jumper wire to Terminal 85 and a known good ground. Check for voltage at Terminal 87. If battery voltage is not indicated, replace the relay.
