Removal

Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Discharge and recover the air conditioning system.





3. Disconnect the 42-pin and the 16-pin connectors and remove the nut and the harness mounting bracket.
4. Remove the intake manifold.
5. Remove the radiator air deflector, the radiator grille, the radiator grille opening panel and the upper and lower radiator supports.
6. Remove the radiator, fan shroud and engine cooling fan.
7. Remove the headlamps and side marker lamps.
8. Remove the A/C condenser core.





9. Remove the bolts and position the power steering pump aside.





10. At the oil cooler water inlet, disconnect and set aside the lower radiator hose.





11. Disconnect the connector and position the harness aside.





12. Remove the bolt.





13. Disconnect the A/C cycling switch.





14. Disconnect the suction hose at the accumulator.





15. Disconnect the heater hose.





16. Disconnect the left and right heated exhaust gas oxygen sensor connectors.
17. Raise and support the vehicle.





18. Remove the nuts.
19. Drain engine oil and remove the oil bypass filter.





20. Loosen the threaded shaft and position the oil cooler aside.
21. Remove the starter motor.





22. Remove the bolts and position the transmission oil cooler lines and bracket aside.





23. Remove the stud bolt and position the ground strap aside.





24. Remove the nut and position the wiring bracket aside.
25. Remove the flywheel inspection cover.





26. Remove the access plug.





27. Remove and discard the four torque converter bolts.





28. Remove the engine support insulator nuts.





29. Remove the four lower transmission to engine bolts.
30. Lower the vehicle.





31. Remove the nut retaining the ground strap and transmission oil filler tube and remove the tube.





32. Remove the three upper transmission to engine bolts.





33. Install the Modular Lifting Bar.
34. Support the transmission with a jack.
35. Remove the engine from the vehicle.





36. Remove the bolts, and remove the flexplate.





37. Use the Rear Crankshaft Stinger Remover and the Impact Slide Hammer to remove the crankshaft oil slinger.
38. Use the Rear Crankshaft Seal Remover and the Impact Slide Hammer to remove the crankshaft rear oil seal.





39. Remove the bolts and remove the crankshaft rear oil seal retainer plate.
40. Mount the engine on an engine stand.
41. Remove the Modular Lifting Bar.
