Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair
Removal1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Depress the brake pedal to expel vacuum from the power brake booster.
3. Remove the coolant reservoir bolts and position reservoir aside.
4. NOTE: Discard the master cylinder retaining nuts. They are a torque prevailing type nut and cannot be reused.
Remove the brake master cylinder.
5. Disconnect the power brake booster check valve.
6. Remove the stoplight switch self-locking pin.
7. Slide the stoplight switch and booster push rod and bushing off the brake pedal pin.
8. Remove the brake booster nuts.
9. Remove the power brake booster.
Installation
1. NOTE: Do not reuse the master cylinder retaining nuts.
Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
