PID Test

PID Test
1. Monitor the PIDs STEER_A, STEER_B, and VSS_AS (or VSS_ARC).
2. Rotate the steering wheel 90 degrees left and right.
3. If either STEER_A or STEER_B PID do not toggle between HIGH and LOW, GO to Pinpoint Test F. Test F: DTC 33, Steering Wheel Rotation Not Detected
4. Take the vehicle for short test drive.
1 Drive at speeds of at least 56 km/h (35 mph).
2 While driving, compare the speedometer to the VSS_AS (or VSS_ARC) output on the scan tool.
5. If the VSS_AS (or VSS_ARC) PID reads within 8 km/h (5 mph) of the speedometer, the EVO inputs are OK; end the PID Test; GO to Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
6. Repeat the test drive while monitoring the generic electronic module (GEM) PID VSS_GEM.
7. If the VSS_ GEM PID reads within 8 km/h (5 mph) of the speedometer, REPAIR circuit 679 (GY/BK).
8. If the VSS_GEM PID reading is out of the above range, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
