OVERVIEW





Some service replacement fuel tanks sold through Ford Dealers for E-Series Van and Wagon models were misbuilt. Misbuilt fuel tanks have a sensor mounting hole that is not used on these applications. See Figure 1.

NOTE:
Misbuilt service fuel tanks were shipped with an off-white plastic shipping plug in the unused sensor hole location.

A misbuilt service replacement fuel tank that has a sensor hole that is not properly sealed may leak fuel. Fuel in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire. Dealers are to replace the misbuilt fuel tank with a new service replacement fuel tank.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Replace the vehicle's fuel tank. For additional information, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 310-01.
