Test A: No Communication With The Instrument Cluster

PINPOINT TEST A: NO COMMUNICATION WITH THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

A1:

A1-A2:

Normal Operation
The instrument cluster communicates interactively with other electronic modules using the controller area network (CAN). High speed CAN communication is through an unshielded, twisted pair cable data bus line, circuits 1908 (WH) and 1909 (BK). Medium speed CAN communication is through an unshielded, twisted pair cable data bus line, circuits 1847 (WH/OG) and 1848 (PK/OG). With the ignition switch in the START or RUN position, the instrument cluster receives voltage from the smart junction box (SJB) through circuit 3049 (BK/LG). When the ignition switch is in the RUN or ACC position, voltage is received from the SJB through circuit 1002 (BK/PK). With the ignition switch in the OFF position, the instrument cluster receives its keep-alive memory voltage from the SJB through circuit 956 (OG/LG). The instrument cluster grounding is through circuit 570 (BK/WH) and the indicators are grounded through circuit 57 (BK).

Possible Causes
- fuse(s)
- circuit 57 (BK) open
- circuit 570 (BK/WH) open
- circuit 956 (OG/LG) open
- circuit 1002 (BK/PK) open
- circuit 3049 (BK/LG) open
- instrument cluster
