Front Suspension
Front SuspensionWARNING: All vehicles are equipped with gas-pressurized shock absorbers which will extend unassisted. Do not apply heat or flame to the shock absorbers during removal or component servicing. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
CAUTION: Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect performance of vital parts and systems and their failure can result in major service expense. A new part with the same part number must be installed if installation becomes necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts.
The front suspension system is a coil spring and shock absorber type design. The wheel spindles are attached to the front axles with ball joints and the axle is a twin I-beam, non-driving type that uses radius arms to control longitudinal movement. The front suspension consists of these components:
^ Shock absorbers
^ Coil springs
^ Radius arms
^ Wheel spindles
^ LH and RH front I-beam axles
^ Stabilizer bar
