Torque Specifications

Cylinder block drain plug 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.)

Crankshaft damper pulley bolt
Using a new Crankshaft Pulley bolt, install the bolt and washer and tighten the bolt in 4 stages.
Stage 1: Tighten to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.).
Stage 2: Loosen 360 degrees.
Stage 3: Tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
Stage 4: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.





Crankshaft Lower Main Bearings
Install the No. 1 through No. 5 crankshaft lower main bearings into the main bearing caps. Locate the main bearing caps on the cylinder block and, keeping the cap as square as possible, alternately draw the cap down evenly using the cap fasteners.
Install the bolts.





Install the 10 dowel pins so that the flat sides face the crankshaft. Install the cross-mounted bolts.





Crankshaft main bearing bolts (vertical)
Tighten fasteners 1 through 12 in 2 stages, in the sequence shown.
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
^ Stage 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.





Crankshaft main bearing bolts (cross-mounted)
Tighten fasteners 13 through 24 in 2 stages, in the sequence shown.
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
^ Stage 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.





Balance Shaft Bearing Caps

NOTE: The balance shaft bearing caps must be installed in their original locations. Record camshaft bearing cap locations.

Remove the 6 bolts in the sequence shown, the 3 bearing caps and the balance shaft.





Install the connecting rod bearings, position the connecting rod cap and loosely install the 2 new bolts.

Tighten the connecting rod bolts in the sequence shown.
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).
^ Stage 2: Tighten an additional 105 degrees.
