Test E: DTC B1681 - PATS Transceiver Module Signal Is Not Received

PINPOINT TEST E: DTC B1681 - PATS TRANSCEIVER MODULE SIGNAL IS NOT RECEIVED

Normal Operation
The PATS transceiver receives voltage on circuit CBP36 (BU/BN) and ground on circuit GD133 (BK). The PATS transceiver communicates with the PATS key. During each vehicle start sequence, the PATS transceiver reads the PATS key identification code and sends the data to the instrument cluster (IC). The IC and the PATS transceiver communicate on circuits VRT23 (VT/GY) and VRT24 (YE/OG). The IC then sends a message to the PCM to control the engine enable. The IC initiates the key interrogation sequence when the key is turned to the ON or START position.

- DTC B1681 (PATS Transceiver Module Signal Is Not Received) - sets when the PATS transceiver signal is not received by the IC. This DTC can be caused by circuits between the PATS transceiver and the IC, circuits to the PATS transceiver, or by a PATS transceiver or IC that is not operating correctly. This can also be caused by using the incorrect PATS transceiver part number.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Fuse
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- PATS ignition key
- PATS transceiver
- IC
