6.4L - LACKS POWER WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE

ISSUE
Some 2008-2010 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.4L diesel engine may exhibit a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on with DTCs P2463 and P246C.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Using Integrated Diagnostic Software (IDS), check Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs). Are DTCs P246C and P2463 both present?
a. No - this article does not apply. Refer to Powertrain Control/Emission Diagnostics (PC/ED) for normal diagnostics.
b. Yes - proceed to Step 2.
2. Using IDS attempt to perform a manual Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) regeneration. Was manual DPF regeneration successful?
a. No - Replace the DPF. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 309-00.
b. Yes - Release the vehicle to the customer.
