Tests RB: Diesel Particulate Filter System
PINPOINT TEST RB: DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER SYSTEM
WARNING:
While conducting tests on a hot engine take all safety precautions to prevent skin contact with hot engine components. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury
WARNING:
Initiate a manual regeneration of the diesel particulate filter only when the vehicle is on the ground with the area around the tailpipe free of people, obstructions, foreign material or other items. Manual regeneration causes the exhaust gas to quickly get VERY HOT. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury
NOTICE:
Only use ultra low sulfur diesel fuel that is 5% or less biodiesel with this vehicle. Use of any other fuel type may damage the vehicle or cause an emission concern. Refer to the Owner's Literature for additional information
Note:
Regeneration may occur during normal operation. During regeneration, diagnostic procedures may display biased values. If a regeneration occurs during diagnostic procedures, allow the process to complete before continuing diagnostics.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- diesel particulate filter (5H221)
- diesel particulate filter pressure sensor (9G824)
- harness circuits: DPF, SIGRTN, and VREF
- powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650)
