ISSUE
Some 2009 Ford Flex vehicles built prior to 10/22/2008 may exhibit diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P2110, P2111, P2135 or P2112. Check for water in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connectors.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
If water is present in the PCM connectors it is not necessary to replace the PCM and/or Throttle Body assembly for this condition.
1. Inspect the PCM connectors for signs of water intrusion.
2. If there is evidence of water in the PCM connectors, make sure PCM connectors are clean and dry prior to reconnecting them to the PCM.
3. Install revised cowl vent grill per Workshop Manual, Section 501-02.
4. Rerun self test, if DTCs return proceed to the appropriated Powertrain Control/Emission Diagnostic Manual (PC/ED) diagnostic section. If no DTC's are present, return the vehicle to the customer.
