Pinpoint Test E: The Rear Video Does Not Operate Correctly

Normal Operation

When the ignition switch is in the RUN position, the rear video camera receives voltage. For vehicles without navigation, with the transmission selector in REVERSE (R), a reverse signal message from the Body Control Module (BCM) is sent over a dedicated Local Interconnect Network (LIN) to the auto-dimming interior mirror, enabling the system. For vehicles with navigation, with the transmission selector in REVERSE (R), the BCM (Body Control Module) sends a reverse signal message to the Audio Front Control Module (ACM) over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN), enabling the system. The video signal from the rear video camera displays an image on the left portion of the auto-dimming interior mirror for vehicles without navigation, or displays an image on the Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) for vehicles with navigation.

- DTC B115E:08 (Camera Module: Bus Signal/Message Failure)- an on-demand DTC that sets in the BCM (Body Control Module) when there is a LIN (Local Interconnect Network) communication fault from the rear video camera.

- DTC C1001:01 (Vision System Camera: General Electrical Failure)- a continuous DTC that sets in the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) when no video signal is detected from the rear video camera when the vehicle is in reverse.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Fuse

- Wiring, terminals or connectors

- Rear video camera

- Camera switching module (with front camera)

- Auto-dimming interior mirror (without navigation)

- Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) (with navigation)

- BCM (Body Control Module)
