Seat Backrest - Front
Removal and Installation
NOTE: For parts identification and location, refer to Seat - Exploded View, Front Seat - Exploded View, Front.
All seats
1. Remove the seat. For additional information, refer to Seat- Front .
2. For SuperCab, remove the manual recline handle, if equipped.
- Insert an appropriate tool behind the cushion side shield, release the retainer and remove the handle.
3. If equipped, remove the adjustable lumbar knob.
- Adjust the lumbar until fully relaxed.
- Release the retainer and remove the knob.
4. Remove the side shield insert.
- Release the lower retainers and lift to release the upper retainers.
- If equipped, disconnect the seat control switch and memory SET switch electrical connectors.
5. Remove the side shield.
- Remove the front and rear side shield screws.
- Pull the side shield outward to release the retainers and remove.
- Reinstall all retainers back to the side shield.
6. Release the cushion cover rear J-clip and rear flaps.
7. If equipped, detach the cable from the lumbar adjuster, release the pin-type retainer and route out the cable from the cushion frame.
- Note cable routing for correct installation.
Power and climate controlled seats
8. Disconnect the backrest wiring harness electrical connector and detach the wiring harness pin-type retainers from the seat track.
- Note wiring harness routing for correct installation.
All seats
9. Disconnect and detach the side air bag wiring harness electrical connector from the seat track.
- Note wiring harness routing for correct installation.
10. WARNING: Use care when the seat back frame is removed and when releasing the recliners from a backrest upright position. The recliners are spring-loaded, which may cause the recliner upper arms to fold with significant speed/force. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
Remove the 4 bolts and seat backrest.
- To install, tighten to 45 Nm (33 lb-ft).
11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
