A/T - Partial Tie Up In Reverse
TSB 86-47 (Sept)SUBJECT: PARTIAL TIE UP IN REVERSE
When experiencing a partial tie up in reverse...The cause can be a sticking 4-3 sequence valve causing partial band apply in reverse. A sticking 2-3 shift valve can cause partial 3-4 clutch apply in reverse.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the valve body assembly from the transmission.
2. Remove the checkballs from the valve body.
3. Drain off excess oil and visually inspect for sticking valves.
4. Dis-assemble valve body and visually check the 4-3 sequence valve and the 2-3 shift valve train for nicks, burrs, or foreign material.
5. If valves cannot be freed up, then replace the valve body assembly.
