SUBJECT: Reverse Friction (Lined) Clutches

At first glance, it may appear that 700 R4 reverse friction clutches are the same as all 350 style 10-reverse clutches we've been using for years...NOT TRUE!




The 700 R4 clutches (OEM # 8461698) are .088" thick. Friction plates used in some THM 350 units measure .097" (OEM # 3832386). Installing these clutches into a 700 R4 will result in reduced clutch pack clearance and may cause early failure.
