Hesitation or Stalls on Acceleration

Definition: Momentary lack of response as the accelerator is pushed down. Can occur at any vehicle speed. Usually most severe when first trying to make the vehicle move, as from a stop sign. May cause the vehicle to stall if severe enough.

POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION

Poor or contaminated fuel ^ Check for excessive alcohol content, refer to ALCOHOL-IN-FUEL TEST.
^ Recommend higher grade fuel.

Fuel Metering ^ Check air/fuel ratio, (O2 Sensor Voltage). Refer to COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS/DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURES.
^ Check fuel pressure. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS/FUEL SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS (CHART A-6).
^ Perform injector service (cleaning).
