Rear Liftglass Does Not Release/Inoperative (Replace Weatherstrip)

Models:
1992-94 Chevrolet and GMC Truck C/K Models
with Liftglass (RPO E55)

This bulletin is being revised to change the Labor Time. Please discard bulletin number 36-10-07A (Group Reference - 10 - Body.

Condition
Customers may comment that the rear liftglass does not release or is inoperative when the hatch release is opened.

Cause
The current weatherstrip does not offer enough resistance to keep the guide pin from relatching.

Correction
Replace the current weatherstrip with a redesigned part. The new part has a solid foam core insert in the weatherstrip where the guide pin and latch meet.

Service Procedure

1. Remove the trim panel to endgate screws.

2. Remove the trim panel from the endgate.

3. Remove the weatherstrip from the endgate flange.

4. Install the redesigned weatherstrip with the foam rod insert in the center (P/N 15711749).

5. Install the trim panel to the endgate.

6. Install the trim panel to endgate screws.
