Engine Cranks, But Will Not Run

Definition: Engine cranks OK, but does not start. May fire a few times.

POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION

No fuel in tank ^ Put fuel in fuel tank.



Water contaminated fuel ^ Perform ALCOHOL IN FUEL TEST. If fails test, drain fuel tank and add clean fuel.



Low fuel pressure ^ Check fuel pressure.



Pinched or collapsed fuel hose/line ^ Repair/replace as required.



Inoperative fuel pump ^ Verify fuse/fuse link integrity.
^ Check fuel pump relay. Testing and Inspection



Fuel drain back ^ Check in-tank fuel pump check valve. Testing and Inspection



Vapor lock ^ Check fuel line routing
(away from heated, exhaust areas).
^ Check fuel grade.
^ Check fuel module. Testing and Inspection
