Assemble

1. Install drive gear into pump body with flats facing up and driven gear with chamfer side down, then lubricate gears with Dexron III transmission fluid.

2. Install pressure regulator valve into bore.

3. Install bore plug and valve straight pin.

4. Install springs and retainer in pressure regulator bore.

5. Install regulator boost valve into boost valve bushing with stem out against spring, then install snap ring.

6. Install converter limit valve, spring, plug and pin.




7. Install TCC enable valve and spring, then compress spring down and insert a small rod in hole A, per figure, to holddown spring until sleeve is installed. Pull out rod when sleeve is installed.

8. Install TCC valve plug, pin, spring, valve, plug and snap ring.

9. Place cover on body and install five pump bolts finger tight.

10. Install alignment band tool J-21368 or equivalent on pump assembly.




11. Install guide pin tool No. J-25025-1 in bolt hole, then torque pump bolts to 18 ft. lbs., per figure.

12. Install pump to case oil seal, then coat seal with Transjel J-36850 or equivalent to ease pump installation.

13. Install correct selective thrust washer as determined by front endplay check in step 24 of disassembly. Use Transjel J-36850 or equivalent to hold in place.

14. Install two solid oil seals using seal installer tool No. J-38739 or equivalent. Use small chamfer end of sizer J-38739 to do lower ring, then use larger chamfered end to size other seal.
