Air Intake System
WARNING: The air cleaner also functions as a flame arrestor in the event of engine backfire The air cleaner should be installed at all times unless its removal is necessary for repair or maintenance. To help reduce the risk of personal injury and property damage, be sure that no one is near the engine compartment before starting the engine with the air cleaner removed. If engine backfire occurs with the air cleaner removed, there could be a burst of flame and possibly other fire in the engine compartment. On vehicles with diesel engines, do not use starting fluids-immediate engine damage can result. Also take care hot to let objects fall into the engine if the air cleaner is removed. If the engine is running, suction can pull loose objects into the engine. Objects pulled or dropped into the engine can cause costly engine damage.
