Service Procedure

Use the following procedure for C/K model vehicles





1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ESO solenoid, (Figure 1).

Notice:
Remove any debris from the ESO mounting surface on the injection pump before servicing the ESO solenoid. This will prevent contaminant from getting into and damaging the injection pump.








2. Remove the solenoid (style of solenoid may vary) and 0-ring from the injector pump housing (Figure 2, Figure 3).

3. Install 0-ring seal above threads at bottom of new solenoid.

4. Install replacement solenoid, P/N 12561591, into injector pump housing and torque to 25 N.m (19 lb ft).

5. Connect electrical connector to ESO solenoid.

6. Start engine and check for leaks.

Use the following procedure for G-Van vehicles

1. Unsnap and remove upper trim plate above engine cover (refer to Interior Trim section of G-Van Service Manual).

2. Remove engine cover (refer to Interior Trim section of G-Van Service Manual).

3. Remove air cleaner assembly (refer to Air Cleaner remove in Engine Controls section of G-Van Service Manual).

4. Remove air duct from turbo inlet.

5. Remove upper radiator shroud (refer to Radiator Replacement in the Engine Cooling section of the G-Van Service Manual).

6. Disconnect electrical connector from electronic shutoff solenoid (refer to Figure 1).

Notice:
Remove any debris from the ESO mounting surface on the injection pump before servicing the ESO solenoid. This will prevent contaminant intrusion into the injection pump.

7. Install 0-ring seal above threads at bottom of new solenoid.

8. Install new ESO solenoid, P/N 12561591, into injector pump and torque to 25 N.m (19 lb ft).

9. Connect electrical connector to ESO solenoid.

10. Install upper radiator shroud.

11. Install air duct to turbo inlet.

12. Install air cleaner assembly.

13. Start engine and check for leaks.

14. Install engine cover.
