The HYDRA-MATIC 4L60E transmission has received the following refinements for the 1998 model year (Figures 1-10):
New Case with improved drainback/to reduce aeration of fluid
New 300 mm Torque Converter (5.7L F Car)/New Stator Shaft and Pump Assembly, Turbine shaft & Housing Assembly/Improves fuel economy
ECCC (F Car 3.8L & all Trucks) Continuous slip TCC friction material/Improves fuel economy and noise isolation
100% 2-Pc. Case Capacity
New Manual Shaft Corrosion Coating from Gold to Black/Better oxidation prevention/Will service all 1993-1998 models
New Extension assembly/More ridged design to improve durability
New Wiring harness assembly/Fully encapsulated design to improve durability
New 1-2 Accumulator Spring/No paint/New material to improve durability
New Screens for Pressure Control Solenoid and Spacer Plate/Revised Filter Screens
The following change will be Implemented for 1998 Interim:
Press Fit Input Sun Gear to Forward Sprag Inner Race/Service as one piece
The following changes were Implemented October 1997:
New Transmission Filters w/increased depth Deep Pan - C/K, G and Holden
New Bottom Pans, Dipstick Stop Bracket Deep Pan - C/K, G and Holden Regular Pan - S/T, M/L, F
New Valve Body Casting with chamfer for new Dipstick Stop Bracket (Must be used together with Deep Pan, Filter and Stop)
