Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Description and Operation

MAT & CTS Sensor Characteristics:

Located at the side of intake manifold, this sensor constantly measures the temperature of the air entering and converts the change in the air temperature into a resistance through its thermistor. That is, as air temperature lowers, resistance increases and as it rises, resistance decreases. As air density of the intake air varies with temperature, the ECM, by monitoring the resistance, adjusts the amount of fuel injected according to the air temperature.
