Electric Load Sensor: Description and Operation
The ECM monitors a signal from the generator. When the voltage on this signal line drops below a calibrated value, the ECM will adjust the Idle Speed using the ISC Solenoid. When the voltage returns to the calibrated value, the ECM will stabilize the idle. Some of the circuits that will cause the voltage drop are the following: Headlights, Tail lights, and rear window defogger. This signal is sent from each of the circuits of head & tail lights, heater fan, and rear window defogger, if equipped. The ECM uses these voltage drops as one of the factors for controlling ISC solenoid valve operation.
