Owner Letter

December 19, 1990

Dear Geo Tracker Owner:

This notice is sent to inform you that Chevrolet Motor Division is conducting a recall campaign that includes your vehicle.

REASON FOR THIS RECALL

General Motors has determined that all 1989-90 Geo Trackers have been built with a positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) breather hose which may freeze during extended driving at low ambient temperatures due to its narrowness (below -4 Fahrenheit, -20 Celsius). Freezing of this passage results in loss of engine oil and engine damage.

WHAT WE WILL DO

To prevent the possibility of this condition occurring, your dealer will install a new breather hose assembly at no charge. This PCV breather hose assembly has a wider passage which prevents the hose passage from freezing.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

Please contact your Chevrolet dealer as soon as possible to arrange a service date and so the dealer may obtain the parts necessary to complete this repair. Instructions for making this correction have been sent to your dealer. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much time will be needed to schedule, process and repair your vehicle.

The enclosed owner reply card identifies your vehicle. Presentation of this card to your dealer will assist in making the necessary correction in the shortest possible time. If you have sold or traded your vehicle, please let us know by completing the postage paid reply card and returning it to us.

We are sorry to cause you this inconvenience; however, we have taken this action in the interest of your continued satisfaction with our products.
