Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Relieve fuel system pressure.
- Raise vehicle on hoist.
- Place an appropriate fuel holding container under fuel filter.
- Disconnect inlet and outlet pipes from the fuel filter.

INSTALLATION

Fuel Filter Junction Fittings:

- Install fuel filter to chassis frame.
- Reconnect inlet and outlet pipes to fuel filter.
^ Use new gaskets.
^ Make sure that gasket contact surfaces are free from any damage.
^ Inlet and outlet pipes should mount into the recess of the fuel filter pipe mounting brackets.

- Tighten the fuel filter union bolts to 35.0 N-m (26.0 lb. ft.).
- Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Start vehicle and check for fuel leaks.
