Fuel Injector: Testing and Inspection

Checking Fuel Injector Resistance:

Fuel Injector Spray Pattern:

FUEL INJECTOR INSPECTION
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Disconnect the injector coupler.
3. Connect an ohmmeter to each injector terminal and measure the resistance. Resistance of the injector should be 1.0 - 2.0 ohms at 20° C (68° F). If resistance is out of specification, replace the fuel injector.
4. Reconnect injector connector to wire harness.
5. Remove the air intake case.
6. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
7. Check fuel pressure to ensure that it is within specification. Refer to Fuel Pressure.
8. Visually check the injector to ensure that the fuel is injected out in a conical shaped pattern while engine is being cranked.
^ If no fuel is injected, refer to Computers and Control Systems / Testing and Inspection / Diagnostic Chart A-7.
^ If fuel is not injected out in a conical shaped pattern, replace the fuel injector.
