The following Lock Cylinder Coding information should replace what is printed on pages 10-1-1 and 10-1-2 of Section 10 for the 1989 Geo Tracker Service Manual (ST377-89).
KEY IDENTIFICATION AND USAGE
One key is used for ignition, door, instrument panel compartment and rear door lock cylinder. The keys are cut both edges to make them reversible.
Key identification is obtained from the five digit number stamped on the key tag. From this key tag, the key code cutting combination can be determined.
If the original key is available, the key code cutting combination can be determined by laying the key on the diagram shown.
CUTTING KEYS
^ Determine the cutting code from the code list or the key code diagram.
^ Cut a blank key to the proper level for eight tumbler positions.
^ Check key operation in the lock cylinder.
REPLACEMENT LOCK CYLINDER
Lock cylinders are available from Service Parts as a complete assembly with key.
Tumblers are not available from Service Parts. If repairs to the tumblers are needed, replace it with a new lock cylinder.
