Differential Axle Housing: Service and Repair

1. Raise and support vehicle then turn the steering wheel all the way to the right.
2. Disconnect breather hose.
3. Remove right and left axle drive shaft by referring to TRANSMISSION CLUTCHES DIFFERENTIALS AXLES AND DRIVE SHAFTS/AXLE, DRIVE SHAFTS/COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR/AXLE SHAFT for procedure.
4. Support differential assembly with a suitable jack.
5. Remove righthand, lefthand and rear mounting bracket bolts and bracket, Figs. 4 and 5.
6. Remove axle housing assembly.
7. Inspect condition of each bushing. If damaged or deteriorated, replace entire mount.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
