Shift Interlock: Description and Operation
SHIFT LOCK CONTROL MODULE system operation is constantly maintained by a permanent power source from Fuse C-19 at C300 terminal 5 and a permanent ground to G202 at C300 terminal 7. System operation is initiated when an ignition "ON" signal and a PARK signal are received simultaneously at C300 terminal 1 and C301 terminal 3. When these signals are received the SHIFT LOCK CONTROL MODULE energizes the SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID. Energizing the SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID locks the manual selector button which, in turn, locks the manual selector into the "P" position.
The SHIFT LOCK CONTROL MODULE will de-energize the SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID whenever a BRAKE signal is received at C300 terminal 2. With the SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID de-energized, the manual selector button is released, and the manual selector is free to move out of the "P" position.
