DTC 15

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The forward sensor circuit consists of the center sensor assembly, the LH forward sensor and the RH forward sensor. The center sensor assembly injects a small amount of current through the forward sensor circuit through the SL+ CKT output, terminal "C1" and the SR+ CKT output, terminal "A2". By monitoring the voltage drop across the diagnostic resistors (in the forward sensors) at the SL- CKT input, terminal "C2" and the SR- CKT input, terminal "A1", the center sensor assembly calculates the combined resistance of the two forward sensors and their associated wiring.

FAILURE CONDITIONS
DTC 15 will set if the center sensor assembly detects an open or a short to B+ in either of the forward sensor circuits.

ACTION TAKEN
The center sensor assembly will illuminate the "AIR BAG" indicator and open the safety circuit, disabling the SRS.

TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. This test checks the integrity of the RH forward sensor circuit.
2. This test checks the integrity of the LH forward sensor circuit.
3. This test checks for an open in the SL+ CKT.
4. This test determines whether the fault is an open in the SL-CKT or a faulty LH forward sensor.
5. This test checks for an open in the SR+ CKT.
6. This test determines whether the fault is due to an open in the SR- CKT or a faulty RH forward sensor.
7. This test checks for a short to B+ in the SL+ CKT.
8. This test determines whether the fault is due to a short to B+ in the SR+ CKT or a faulty center sensor assembly.
