Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments
NOTE: Prior to adjustment, disconnect the negative battery cable, and the TPS electrical connector.1. Connect a DVOM between terminal 1 (gray/yellow wire) and terminal 2 (blue/white wire) of the throttle position sensor connector on the throttle position sensor side. Measure resistance. With the throttle valve closed, there should be continuity.
2. Insert a 0.65 mm (0.026 in) feeler gauge between the throttle stop screw and the throttle lever. With the TPS retaining screws loosely installed, rotate the TPS fully counterclockwise, then slowly clockwise until ohmmeter reading switches from continuity to no continuity.
3. Tighten the TPS mounting bolts to 2.5-4.5 Nm (22.8-38.4 lb-in).
4. Remove the feeler gauge. The ohmmeter should still indicate continuity.
5. Insert a 0.8 mm (0.037 in) feeler gauge between the stop screw and the throttle lever. The ohmmeter should still indicate continuity. If that is not the case repeat the entire adjustment procedure.
6. Connect the TPS electrical connector and the negative battery cable.
