DTC P0705 Transmission Range Switch Circuit (5 Of 5):
Transmission Range Switch Circuit:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Transmission Range Switch sends gear position signals to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) according to manual selector lever position. The TCM uses this information to manage transmission operation.
DTC DETECTING CONDITION
- Transmission Range Switch signal (N, D, 2 or L) is not inputted for 25 seconds at 60 km/h or higher vehicle speed.
- "D" range signal and another range signal (N, 2 or L) were inputted simultaneously for 10 seconds.
ACTION TAKEN
A DTC P0705 is stored, TCM enters fail-safe mode and both the "OD/OFF" and "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" indicators are turned "ON."
DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Numbers below refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.
1. Checks Transmission Range Switch output voltage in "D" position.
2. Checks Transmission Range Switch output voltage in "L" position.
3. Checks Transmission Range Switch output voltage in "N" position.
4. Checks Transmission Range Switch output voltage in "2" position.
5. Checks for a TCM poor terminal contact.
6. Checks for a defective TCM.
7. Checks for a short to voltage in GRN wire.
8. Checks for a short to ground in GRN wire.
9. Checks for an open in ORN wire.
10. Checks for an open in YEL wire.
11. Checks for a short to voltage in GRN/BLU wire.
12. Checks for a short to ground in GRN/BLU wire.
13. Checks for an open in GRN/BLU wire.
14. Checks for an open in YEL wire.
15. Checks for a short to voltage in ORN/BLU wire.
16. Checks for a short to ground in ORN/BLU wire.
17. Checks for an open in ORN/BLU wire.
18. Checks for an open in YEL wire.
19. Checks for a short to voltage in YEL/GRN wire.
20. Checks for a short to ground in YEL/GRN wire.
21. Checks for an open in YEL/GRN wire.
22. Checks for an open in YEL wire.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
An intermittent condition may he caused by a poor connection, rubbed through wire insulation or a wire broken inside the insulation. Inspect the TCM harness connectors for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals and for poor terminal-to-wire connections.
