DTC P0758 Shift Solenoid #2 Electrical:

Shift Solenoid:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

Shift Solenoid # 1 and Shift Solenoid # 2 are used together to electronically control the shifting of the transmission from 1st gear to 4th gear (overdrive). The Transmission Control Module (TCM) outputs system voltage to turn ON (energize) or remove voltage to turn OFF (de-energize) either solenoid when it deems necessary. The transmission shifts with the combination of both solenoids being turned ON and OFF Shift solenoid # 2 is normally ON in 2nd and 3rd gears and never ON in 1st or 4th gears. Shift solenoid # 1 is normally ON in 1st and 2nd gears and never ON in 3rd or 4th gears. 4th gear (overdrive) is obtained when both shift solenoids are OFF.

DTC DETECTING CONDITIONS

Voltage is detected at terminal "11" is 2.0 V or lower when shift solenoid valve # 2 is "ON" or 5.5 V or higher when it is "OFF"

ACTION TAKEN

A DTC P0758 is stored, TCM enters fail-safe mode and both the "OD/OFF" and "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" indicators are turned "ON."

DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION

Numbers below refer to the circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.

1. Checks for proper resistance values.

2. Checks for a short to ground in GRN/RED wire.

3. Checks for an open in GRN/RED wire.

4. Checks the condition of the transmission internal electrical harness.

5. Checks for a short to voltage in ORN/RED wire.

6. Checks for a poor electrical connection that may have caused DTC to set.

7. Checks for a defective TCM.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS

Check for poor connections at component and inline harness connector terminal connections before replacing components. After repairs have been made, repeat the TCM OBD System Check to ensure system is functioning normally.
