With ABS System

1. Clean master cylinder and surrounding area, then remove cap and ensure reservoir is full.
2. Install pressure bleeder adapter tool No. J 37762, or equivalent, on reservoir, then connect suitable pressure bleeding equipment to adapter. Refer to equipment manufacturer's instructions.
3. Attaching a clear plastic tube to hydraulic modulator rear bleed valve, then submerge other end of tube in a glass container partially filled with clean brake fluid.
4. Slowly open bleed valve 1/2-3/4 turn, then watch for flow of air bubbles to stop.
5. When air bubbles are no longer present, torque bleeder valve to 80 inch lbs.
6. Attaching a clear plastic tube to hydraulic modulator forward bleed valve, then submerge other end of tube in a glass container partially filled with clean brake fluid.
7. Slowly open bleed valve 1/2-3/4 turn, then watch for flow of air bubbles to stop.
8. When air bubbles are no longer present, torque bleeder valve to 80 inch lbs.
9. Raise and support vehicle, then attach clear tube to right rear wheel cylinder bleed valve and submerge other end of tube in a glass container partially filled with clean brake fluid.
10. Open bleeder valve and watch for flow of air bubbles in fluid to stop.
11. When air bubbles are no longer present, torque bleeder valve to 80 inch lbs. and remove equipment from right rear wheel circuit.
12. Bleed left rear wheel circuit next, followed by right front and, finally, left front. Use bleeding procedure outlined in preceding steps.
13. Remove pressure bleeder adapter from master cylinder, then ensure brake fluid level is satisfactory. Add fluid as necessary and install reservoir cap.
14. Place ignition switch in On position, then depress and hold brake pedal using moderate force.
15. If pedal feels consistently firm and travel is not excessive, start engine and again inspect pedal firmness and travel.
16. If pedal firmness or travel is not satisfactory before or after engine start, connect TECH 1 scan tool, then release and apply motors three times and cycle solenoids ten times. Warning: Do not drive vehicle at this time.
17. Repeat bleed procedure as necessary to obtain proper brake pedal feel; road test vehicle and complete several non-ABS stops to ensure system functions properly.
