Power Indicator Does Not Light
"Power" Indicator Does Not Light:
"OD/OFF" Indicator:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
When the "Power/Normal" Switch is set to Power "P," a signal is sent to the Transmission Control Module (TCM). The TCM turns on the "POWER" indicator lamp in the instrument panel cluster, informing the driver that the transmission is under the "Power" shifting schedule (delaying upshifting for improved acceleration). If the button is set to Normal "N," the TCM receives a signal, the "POWER" indicator lamp goes out and the transmission goes under the Normal shift schedule (for improved fuel economy.)
TEST DESCRIPTION
Numbers below refer to the circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.
1. Checks the TCM's ability to ground the "POWER" indicator lamp circuit.
2. Checks for an open bulb filament for the "POWER" indicator. printed circuit or between the TCM and the Instrument Panel cluster.
3. Determines whether this condition is related to an open in PNK wire, and not due to a defective I/P gauge cluster.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Check fuses for opens, and grounds for clean and tight connections.
An intermittent condition may be caused by a poor connection, rubbed through wire insulation or a wire broken inside the insulation.
Check for poor connections at component and inline harness connector terminal for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals and for poor terminal-to-wire connections before replacing components. After repairs have been made, repeat the TCM OBD System Check to ensure the system is functioning normally.
