Compressor Mounting Brackets

If vehicle is equipped with power steering, refer to Power Steering Pump in Power Steering Gear and Pump for compressor mounting bracket service procedures.

Remove or Disconnect

1. Negative (-) battery cable.
2. Compressor clutch electrical connector.
3. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
4. Right front wheel assembly.
5. Right air guide panel.
6. Loosen idler pulley bolt and remove compressor drive belt from clutch pulley.
7. Three bolts and set aside compressor.
8. Five bolts and compressor mounting bracket from vehicle.

Install or Connect

1. Compressor bracket onto the engine block. Secure with five bolts following proper torque sequence.

Important

^ Proper torque sequence is essential to prevent damage to the engine block or compressor bracket.

Tighten

^ Compressor bracket right-side bolt to 34.3-39.2 N.m. (25.2-28.8 lb. ft.).
^ Compressor bracket front bolts to 63.7-68.6 N.m. (46.8-50.4 lb. ft.).

2. Compressor to compressor bracket Secure with three bolts following proper torque sequence.

Important

^ Proper torque sequence is essential to prevent damage to the compressor or compressor bracket.

Tighten

^ Compressor bolts to 22.5-27.4 N.m. (16.5-20.1 lb. ft.).

3. Compressor drive belt and adjust belt tension.
4. Compressor clutch electrical connector; secure wire using clamps.
5. Right-side air guide panel.
6. Right front wheel.
8. Negative (-) battery cable.
