Pull-In Test:
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT ^
Starter-to-solenoid wire from solenoid terminal.
INSTALL OR CONNECTPinion Return Test:
^
Test leads from battery to starter assembly.
Inspect ^
Check that the pinion extends quickly and completely to the energized position.

If the pinion movement is satisfactory, proceed to Hold-In Test.

If pinion movement is not satisfactory, replace the
starter solenoid.
