Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Rear Side Pillar Area

Special Tools Required

- KTC Trim Tool Set SOJATP2014

C-Pillar Trim/Upper Quarter Window Trim

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations and the precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

- If side airbags and/or side curtain airbags have deployed, the affected pillar area trim and attachment clips must be replaced. Refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to bend or scratch the trim or the panels.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.

1. Fold the rear seat forward.

2. Remove these items:

- Door inner seal, as needed
- Hatch weatherstrip, as needed Hatch Weatherstrip Replacement
- Rear side trim panel Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Rear Side Area

3. Remove the C-pillar trim (A).

1. Release the hook (B) and the tab (C) from the upper quarter window trim (D).

2. Pull back the bottom of the trim by hand to detach the clip (E, F).

3. Pull down the trim to release the upper hooks (G) from the holes in the C-pillar.





4. Pull down the upper quarter window trim (A) to detach the clips, and remove it.






5. Install the trims in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the C-pillar trim (A), the upper quarter window trim (B), and the clips (C), along with the other parts listed for side curtain airbag deployment Service and Repair.
- To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect the trims and replace them with new ones if they have any of the following damage:
- Any cracks or deformations in the upper quarter window trim, the C-pillar trim or the upper hooks (D), or any stress-whitened areas in the upper part of the trims
- Any cracks or stress-whitening areas in the clip seating surfaces (E)
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Replace any damaged parts with new ones.
- Make sure the top of the trim overlaps with the headliner correctly.
- Make sure the hooks on the C-pillar trim are installed in the side curtain airbag bracket properly.
- Push the clips and the hooks into place securely.

Upper quarter window trim






D-Pillar Trim/Rear Roof Trim

NOTE:

- If side airbags and/or side curtain airbags have deployed, the affected pillar area trim and attachment clips must be replaced. Refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to bend or scratch the trim or the panels.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.

1. Remove these items:

- Rear ceiling light Service and Repair
- Hatch weatherstrip, as needed Hatch Weatherstrip Replacement

2. Remove the rear roof trim (A).

1. Release the hooks (B) from the D-pillar trims (C).

2. Pull down the trim by hand to detach the clips.





3. Remove rear side trim panel Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Rear Side Area.

4. Remove the D-pillar trim (A).

1. Pry off the lid (B), then remove the bolt.

2. Release the hooks (C).

3. Pull back the trim by hand to detach the clips.





5. Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the D-pillar trim (A), the rear roof trim (B), and the clips (C), along with the other parts listed for side curtain airbag deployment Service and Repair.
- To prevent the side curtain airbag from deploying improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect the trim and replace it if it has any of these types of damage:
- Any cracks or deformations in the D-pillar trim, the rear roof trim, the hooks (D), or any stress-whitened areas in the upper part of the trim
- Any cracks or stress-whitening in the clip seating surfaces (E)

- Replace any damaged parts with new ones.
- Make sure the top of the trim overlaps with the headliner correctly..
- Push the clips and the hooks into place securely.
