Heater Assembly

Fig. 17 Component & Bolt Locations For Heater Assembly Removal:





1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain coolant from radiator.
3. Disconnect heater hoses at firewall, Fig. 17.
4. Disconnect heater valve cable from heater.
5. Remove heater lower mounting nut.
6. Remove left side lower dash panel.
7. Lower steering column.
8. Disconnect instrument wire harness from the fuse box, side wire harness, interior light harness, brake light wire harness and engine compartment wire harness.
9. Remove heater control panel.
10. Remove heater control bracket.
11. Remove dashboard center access panel, then remove ashtray.

12. Remove nine dashboard mounting bolts, Fig. 18.
13. Pull dashboard while lifting to disengage from the guide pin. Hold dashboard underneath so it will not fall after remove from guide pin.
14. Remove heater duct.
15. Disconnect heater function and air mix cables from heater.
16. Pry out retainer clips, then remove driver side and passenger side floor ducts.

17. Remove heater mounting bolts and pull heater away from body, Fig. 19.
18. Disconnect vacuum hose at five-way joint and remove heater.
19. Reverse procedure to install.
