Heater Assembly

Fig. 20 Instrument Panel Attaching Bolt Locations:





1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain coolant from radiator.
3. Remove fuse box cover and mounting bolt and nut.
4. Lower steering column assembly.
5. Disconnect instrument wire harness from the fuse box, side wire harness, interior light, engine compartment wire harness, body ground and stop light switch.
6. Remove heater control panel cover.
7. Remove heater control bracket mounting screws.
8. Remove speaker grille panel from right corner of dashboard, Fig. 20.
9. Disconnect speedometer cable.
10. Disconnect tachometer cable, if equipped.
11. Remove two bolt hole plugs from both sides of the dashboard, Fig. 20.
12. Remove seven dashboard attaching bolts, Fig. 20.
13. Pull dashboard while lifting to disengage from guide pin. Hold dashboard underneath so it will not fall after removed from guide pin.

14. Disconnect heater hoses at firewall, Fig. 21.
15. Remove heater lower mount nut on firewall, Fig. 21.
16. Remove heater duct by prying out retainer clips.
17. On models equipped with A/C, remove evaporator duct band.

18. Disconnect control cables from heater assembly and remove heater attaching bolts, Fig. 22.
19. Remove heater valve cable cover, then remove heater assembly from vehicle.
20. Reverse procedure to install.
