Cup Holder Won't Stay Closed


PROBLEM
The cup holder won't stay closed.

PROBABLE CAUSE
A broken lock plate.


CORRECTIVE ACTION
Install the new lock plate listed under PARTS INFORMATION.





1. Remove the center console.

^ Pull the gear selector as far back as possible.

^ For manual transmissions, remove the shift lever knob.

^ Set the hand brake and tilt the console up.

^ Remove the console in one piece.

2. Remove the screws that secure the cup holder assembly to the console.

3. Remove the screw securing the lock plate.

4. Install the new lock plate.


5. Reinstall the cup holder. Open and close the cup holder a few times to make sure it locks in the closed position.

6. Reinstall the center console and, if necessary, the shift lever knob.
