Solenoid Leak Test

If solenoid leaks excessively, brake fluid level in modulator reserve tank will rise when operating ABS motor.

1. Disconnect pump motor and pressure switch connectors.
2. Connect ohmmeter between YEL and YEL terminals of pressure switch connector.
3. Attach positive lead of fully charged 12 volt battery to RED/WHT terminal of motor connector and negative lead to GRN terminal, and install switch between negative lead and GRN terminal.
4. Turn switch on to allow sufficient pressure to build up within accumulator and check for continuity on ohmmeter. If continuity is found, run motor for ten seconds more, then turn switch off.
5. If solenoid hisses or squeaks, replace modulator.
6. Check pressure switch for continuity within 30 minutes. Continuity should be found. If no continuity is found, a solenoid is faulty or a high pressure line is leaking.
