Front Door Window Glass: Service and Repair


Glass/Regulator Replacement

1. Remove:
^ Door panel
^ Plastic cover
^ Outer molding

2. Remove the mounting nuts, then remove the stopper plates.

NOTE: Scribe a line around the mounting nuts to show the original adjustment.





3. Move the window until you can see its mounting bolts. Carefully remove the bolts while holding the glass.

4. Carefully pull the glass out through the window slot.

NOTE: Take care not to drop the glass inside the door.





5. Remove the mounting screw, then remove the glass run channel.

6. Remove the mounting screw, nut and bolts. Slide the front glass guide to the rear, then remove it.

NOTE:
^ When installing the glass run channel, take care not to twist it. Make sure the glass run channel is fastened securely as shown.
^ When installing the front glass guide, tighten the mounting screw, then install the mounting bolt temporarily. Align the front glass guide properly, then tighten the mounting bolts.








7. Remove the quarter glass as shown.





8. Remove the locknut, then remove the rear glass guide.

NOTE: Hold the adjusting bolt with a flat tip screwdriver when removing the locknut.





9. Remove the two mounting bolts, two roller guide bolts and loosen the two motor bolts. Disconnect the connector. Remove the regulator assembly through the center hole in the door.

NOTE: Scribe a line around the roller guide mounting bolt to show the original adjustment.





10. Grease all the sliding surfaces of the window regulator where shown.

11. Before removing the motor, mark the location by scribing a line across the sector gear and regulator. Install using the three mounting bolts. Move the window regulator to the original position by connecting a 12 V battery to the motor.





12. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

13. Roll the glass up and down to see if it moves freely without binding. Also make sure that there is no clearance between the glass and glass run channel when the glass is closed. Adjust the position of the glass as necessary.

14. Attach the wire harness to the door correctly.

15. When reinstalling the plastic cover, apply adhesive along the edge where necessary to maintain a continuous seal and prevent water leaks.

16. After installation, check for water leaks.

NOTE:
^ Spray water over the roof.
^ Do not spray directly on the sealing area and do not use high-pressure water.
